Call for Presentations

Now Closed! Ethernet has a long established history of jumping speeds by a factor of 10. The simultaneous introduction of 40GbE and 100GbE changed this legacy forever, and was a forbearer to the market wanting intermediary speeds between traditional 10x Ethernet increases.  This raises the question in the industry of whether additional rates of Ethernet should be introduced.  So, in addition to the work of the IEEE P802.3bs 400GbE Task Force, the market is also seeing work and/or discussions on other possible new rates of Ethernet, such as 2.5, 25, 50 and even 200 Gb/s.

The Ethernet Alliance will host a one-day Technology Exploration Forum (TEF) to focus on the value of introducing new rates of Ethernet into the campus and data center application spaces for computing and networking.  This forum will bring together experts and key players in the Ethernet industry to discuss and explore the “Rate Debate.”  In addition to its own broad membership, which includes component vendors, system vendors, and end users, this event is open to non-Ethernet Alliance members.  Together, these two constituencies will provide a diverse set of backgrounds, ensuring lively discussion and debate.

Topics of Interest

The Technology Exploration Forum is an opportunity for individuals to present and share their ideas with members of the Ethernet community interested in exploring the future of Ethernet. Potential topics for discussion and presentations include but are not limited to:

  •      Moving beyond 10GbE
  •      Ethernet and Server Roadmaps
  •      Ethernet and Network Roadmaps
  •      Ethernet and Campus Roadmaps
  •      1, 2.5, 10, 25, 40, 50, 100, 200, 400GbE
  •      Lane Rates and Ethernet Data Rates
  •      Breakout Options
  •      Are All These Ethernet Rates good for the Industry?

Your Participation

The Technology Exploration Forum is open to the Ethernet community.  Please submit the following information for your proposal for a panel or presentation.

  • Proposal Format (one page):
  • Title (not more than 5 or 6 words)
  • Photograph of Presenter
  • Abstract
  • Short biography of the presenter & contact information (job title, address, telephone, email)
  • Brief description of the presenters’ organization

Please note proposals for product overviews will not be accepted. All proposals should be emailed to TEF@ethernetalliance.org no later than July 25, 2014.

All proposals will be reviewed and acceptance notifications will be provided on August 14, 2014. Panels based on complementary proposals may be organized.
