Ethernet Alliance^® University Members to Present at IEEE LCN 2008 Conference

Mountain View, CA – October 14, 2008 – The Ethernet Alliance today announced that Dr. Ken Christensen and Francisco Blanquicet of the University of South Florida (USF) will host a discussion on the Ethernet Alliance University Program (EAUP) at the 33^rd annual IEEE Local Computer Networks (LCN) Conference, October 14-17 at the Hyatt Regency Montreal in Montreal, Quebec.  The EAUP presentation will take place Wednesday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Christensen, USF Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Program for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, will provide a brief synopsis of the EAUP and the benefits of joining the program. Blanquicet, USF graduate student and winner of the 2008 EAUP White Paper Challenge, will present an overview of his winning white paper, PAUSE Power Cycle, and will also share his experiences as a student member of the EAUP via a special video presentation.

The EAUP serves as an alliance between educational institutions and industry professionals that offers engineering students the chance to gain academic credibility and scholarship opportunities, as well as develop their professional skills and work directly with industry leaders.

The Ethernet Alliance is currently accepting submissions for the 2009 White Paper Challenge. The program is open only to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students of universities that are members of the EAUP. The winning university and student representative will each be awarded a cash prize of $3,000 and the opportunity to present their white paper at next year’s Interop Las Vegas, May 17-22, 2009. White papers should focus on Ethernet technologies and advancement and must be received or postmarked by February 27, 2009 to be eligible.
