In preparation to make the leap to 400 Gb/s Ethernet, IEEE 802.3 chartered a group to explore the bandwidth requirements of industry. This bandwidth assessment highlighted, not surprisingly, the impact of video on bandwidth requirements, but also highlighted the growing usage of mobile technologies to view video. While often seen as competitive solutions, the simple fact highlighted during the IEEE bandwidth assessment is that there is a growing synergy and interdependency upon the various technologies developed as part of the IEEE 802 Suite of Standards. This panel will explore the emerging use cases and technology developments of wireless technologies and assess the potential impact on IEEE 802.3 Ethernet.
